Many of our clients seek refinement and revision of previous hair transplants, scalp reductions and flaps performed by other physicians. Perhaps a patient has undergone a procedure years earlier by another physician and was not particularly happy with the results, or maybe he was happy with the result, but has relocated and now needs additional work. Dr. Stough can usually compliment the previous work by utilizing the most current techniques. Upon consultation, Dr. Stough will recommend the best treatment plan for the patient. Often these repair cases will involve more than one surgery.
Most of these people are unaware of the advancements in the hair transplant industry. Dr Stough believes, ÒIf you can see a hair transplant, it is not a good one.Ó We offer many people correction of previous work. By utilizing the Feathering Zone Technique and follicular unit grafting, we are able to create a much more natural appearance.
Large grafts containing 6-20 hairs are noticeable and unnatural looking. Straight hairlines with atypical roundness are characteristic of these older techniques and lend a very unnatural and obvious result.
Dr. Stough refines these grafts generally, by removing the larger more prominent grafts from the frontal hairline, dissecting them into single follicles, and re-transplanting them in a more natural pattern. The Feathering Zone Technique eliminates the abrupt, straight hairline typical of the older procedures.
While the patient receives a much more pleasing result, all of the large grafts cannot be removed and scarring cannot be eliminated. One must consult with Dr. Stough to determine what can be accomplished on a case by case basis.
